Travis County prosecutors transfer 21CT no-bid contract probe to another agency

AUSTIN — The Travis County District Attorney’s Office has transferred its investigation of a controversial no-bid contract to another law enforcement agency better able to handle the complicated case.

Travis County Public Integrity Unit chief Gregg Cox disclosed the move to the Houston Chronicle, saying his office had shifted to an “assisting role” in the probe of the $110 million contract given by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to Austin technology company 21CT.

“I can’t say anything more other than to say that the investigation is still moving forward and, in fact, is moving forward even more actively,” Cox said.
