College Station woman indicted on Medicaid, SNAP fraud charges for more than $2,500, in jail without bond set

A College Station woman has been indicted by a Brazos County grand jury after authorities say she fraudulently collected several thousand dollars in Medicaid and SNAP food benefits.

According to a grand jury indictment, Kendra Alisa Sterling, 28, was arrested Wednesday. She is accused of lying on a government document by reporting to the Texas Department of Human Services that she was the sole provider in her household, while another person had been living there and contributing to her income. Authorities say she received thousands of dollars in health care and food subsidy benefits she was not entitled to.
Sterling is charged with Medicaid fraud greater than $2,500 and execution of document deception, both state jail felonies each punishable by up to two years in a state jail.

She is being held in the Brazos County Jail. No bond has been set for her.
