Texas Capitol StatueThe Texas House of Representatives Human Services Committee will hear public testimony this coming Tuesday, March 19th on Bill 1536. Bill 1536 enshrines the right of a Medicaid provider accused of overbilling the program by the Office of Inspector General HHSC to obtain a hearing before the State Office of Administrative Hearings on those accusations. It also makes provision for the provider to file for a judicial review should they contest the SOHA judge’s ruling and the amount of overpayment is greater than $50,000.

TDMR will be sending several representatives to testify in favor of the bill and we suggest all other Medicaid providers, dental or other, who have a vested interest in this issue to make arrangements to testify as well at the Capitol in Austin.

The latest information from the House website indicates the meeting will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday morning or as soon after the adjournment of the House as possible in Room E2.030 in the Capitol. All instructions for registering for testifying at the hearing are on the House website. There are maps on the webpage as well. Room E2.030 is the last meeting room to the north-west on the second floor of the Capitol Extension.

The latest information on the bill itself is also on the House website.

Information about the members of the House Human Services Committee is also available.

TDMR is willing to assist any Medicaid provider to help them give testimony. Please give us a call at 800-630-0460.
