Students sometimes camp out days in advance to secure spots for Duke basketball games, with an opportunity for free dental care creating a similar phenomenon in Mount Airy.
“We had our first patient in line Friday night around nine o’clock,” Amanda Fretwell at the Dr. John L. Gravitte practice said of the Dentistry With Heart event there for which registration didn’t begin until 7 a.m. last Saturday.
Around 200 vehicles were counted heading in to Gravitte’s office on North Pointe Boulevard off U.S. 52-North, according to Fretwell, its marketing director, overflowing onto Galax Trail nearby.
