The University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine received $17.75 million in new extramural research grant funding in fiscal year 2026 — the highest in its history.
The dental school’s FY26 funding was also more than twice than what it received in each of the previous three years, according to a Sept. 8 news release.
The school also set a record for new grants, receiving 23 this year compared to between 11 and 14 grants received in past years. Funding sources included multiple NIH institutes, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Army and other private foundations, according to the news release.
The University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine has consistently ranked in the top 15% of U.S. dental schools for NIH funding.
