Minh Phuong Dong, MD, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow at Loma Linda (Calif.) University School of Dentistry, received an award from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research to develop a way to predict how patients with oral cancer will fare.
The project aims to explain why patients with seemingly similar oral cancers respond so differently to treatment. Dr. Dong will combine AI analysis of microscopic tumor tissue images with molecular features of the cancer, according to an Oct. 22 news release from the university.
