Florida will get $160K from $2M settlement in Medicare kickback case

STATEWIDE — Florida is among 6 states that will receive a share of a $2-million dollars settlement from a French medical device manufacture accused of paying kickbacks to doctors.

Medicrea International and its American affiliate Medicrea USA Inc. have agreed to pay $1 million to the United States and participating states to resolve civil whistle-blower allegations that Medicrea entertained U.S. based physicians during a 2013 conference in France with offers of fine dining, travel and alcohol to induce them to purchase medical devices and services provided by Medicrea. Medicrea will also pay an additional $1 million to resolve related allegations that the companies violated the physician Open Payments Program.
