Texas dragging its feet on kicking Planned Parenthood out of Medicaid

AUSTIN — A court hearing set for Monday about the effort by Texas to halt Medicaid reimbursements to Planned Parenthood has been canceled because state officials have not yet actually kicked the organization out of the program.Health inspector general Stuart Bowen informed Planned Parenthood on Oct. 19 of the state’s plan to stop reimbursements, but as of Friday he had not actually completed the process of doing so.That rendered moot the scheduled court hearing on Planned Parenthood’s lawsuit to block the action, at least for now, according to the federal judge overseeing the case, Sam Sparks.
