When Alicia Dieckhoff’s 7-year-old son cracked his tooth in February and cried in pain, she wanted to take him to a dentist. When Dieckhoff had her own aching tooth infection, she wanted to go to the dentist.
But none of the dentists Dieckhoff has contacted will see her. Or her son. Or her three other children.
When she qualified for Medicaid in 2025, Dieckhoff got coverage through Molina Healthcare – one of three companies Nebraska contracts with to manage the state’s Medicaid program.
According to the organization’s database, dozens of dentists in Lincoln are accepting patients who have Molina Healthcare. But after more than 15 calls to dental clinics, Dieckhoff still hasn’t found anyone to see her or her children.
