2020 TDA Meeting Cancellation

April 10, 2020 By TDMR Leave a Comment

March 24, 2020

Dear TDA Members,

It is with a heavy heart that we write to you today. Due to the serious and pervasive COVID-19 health crisis and the numerous associated government and public health emergency directives, it is impossible for the 2020 TDA Meeting to go forward as planned. This is especially difficult as this is the 150th anniversary of the TDA Meeting and TDA’s House of Delegates.

After several emergency meetings with TDA’s Council on the Annual Meeting and Continuing Education Programs (CAMCEP) and the Executive Committee, the TDA Board of Directors met last night and voted unanimously to cancel the event given the impossibility of it going forward. Our volunteer leaders are looking at options for online continuing education or smaller CE events later this year. We will continue to provide updates as decisions are made.

The Board of Directors decision includes several important elements:

  • Registration and course fees will be fully refunded. We are working with the registration company to determine the processing schedule for refunds. More information will be emailed to registrants as soon as possible.
  • Exhibit and sponsorship fees will be refunded or may be applied to the 2021 TDA Meeting. The staff will reach out to the organizations separately in the next one to two weeks.
  • TDA House of Delegates meeting will occur, but not as initially planned. TDA’s Speaker of the House and the staff are researching options. The dates, times, format, and location will be announced as soon as possible.

Hotel Reservations
Hotel reservations booked through the TDA Meeting and Orchid Events will be automatically cancelled. No cancellation fees will be charged to you. If you booked a hotel room outside of the TDA Meeting room block (directly with a hotel or other third-party website), you will need to cancel your reservation.

TDA will continue to provide updates as information becomes available on COVID-19 and the impact on dentists and your practice, team, and patients. We are stronger together as we navigate through these difficult times—the power of our unified community that gives us strength.

We greatly value your membership in TDA and look forward to returning to San Antonio in 2021 for the TDA Meeting on May 6-8.

Dr. Charles W. Miller
2019-2020 TDA President
Dr. Cindy T. Flanagan
2020 TDA Meeting Scientific Chair
