ATLANTA, Ga. (WJCL) — An Atlanta-based dentist has pleaded guilty to criminal charges and settled with the Attorney General’s office for more than $324,000.Attorney General Sam Olens announced Friday the conclusion of a multi-part investigation into Dr. Dennis B. Jaffe’s dentistry practice conducted by the Georgia Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and federal partners.
The criminal plea focused on allegations that Jaffe knowingly billed for services provided on days when he was not in the office. On those days, unqualified staff performed services and Jaffe billed as if he had performed the services.
Jaffe pleaded guilty to one count of misuse of healthcare funds and received a sentence of one year on probation, 50 hours of community service, restitution of $3,368 and also surrendered his license to practice dentistry.
