Coronavirus pandemic impact on dentistry & patients

MIAMI VALLEY, Ohio (WKEF/ WRGT) — COVID 19 has forced many dental offices to close in order to conserve personal protective equipment.

Many fear some practices may not be able to recover from the economic impact.

“For sure there’s financial pressure right now,” said Dr. Andrew Matta, chief medical officer and co-founder of North American Dental Group. “I mean it’s a big challenge right now for dentistry as a whole.”

Dr. Matta said his group has 232 practices nationwide, some right here in the Miami Valley.

Out of the more than 200, only 60 are open for emergency care.

Having to close means a huge financial loss.
