DALLAS (KDAF) — Texas residents spend slightly above the U.S. average on dental care, according to new analysis by Thorncrest Dental. The report found that residents annual spending on dental care averages $397, comprising 3.30% of their total expenditures.
This comes as a July 2025 Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) poll revealed that almost half of U.S. adults struggle to afford health care costs. The analysis compared per capita expenditures across the country, utilizing Bureau of Economic Analysis data for 2023.
The analysis indicates that the average total expenditure per capita in Texas is $12,012. Consequently, dental costs in Texas account for around one dollar for every $31 spent overall, which is slightly higher than the national average of 3.2%.
