A Democratic legislator in South Dakota has raised concerns about Republican Governor Kristi Noem’s recent Texas trip for dental treatment, coupled with her participation in a video endorsing the dental practice.
State Senator Reynold Nesiba has called for an inquiry into the matter, questioning potential ethical implications surrounding the trip and video.
Senator Nesiba expressed bewilderment over a nearly five-minute video posted by Governor Noem on social media, in which she praised the dental care she received in Texas.
Nesiba has questioned how the trip was funded and whether the procedure was discounted as a kickback for the endorsement.
Prompted by concerns regarding potential misuse of public resources, Senator Nesiba has urged the Legislature’s Government Operations & Audit Committee to address the matter during its next meeting in July.
The inquiry seeks clarification on various aspects surrounding Noem’s dental visit and promotional activities.
