Former Hopkinton woman sentenced in embezzlement of dental office funds

BOSTON — A federal judge has sentenced a former Hopkinton woman who embezzled nearly $350,000 from a Greater Boston dental office to nearly three and a half years in prison.

U.S. District Court Judge Mark L. Wolfe on Tuesday sentenced Yuliya Vaysglus, 36, to 41 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised released.

Vaysglus, who also known by Julia Vaysglus, pleaded guilty in June to eight counts of bank fraud, three counts of filing false tax returns and one count of aggravated identify theft.

Vaysglus currently lives in Campbell, California, but lived in Hopkinton at the time of the theft.

Authorities said Vaysglus worked as an office manager at a Greater Boston dental office from 2009 until February 2015, when she was fired.
