The Harvard School of Dental Medicine will transfer its Cambridge dental center to a private owner and discontinue its Faculty Group Practice due to financial challenges, The Harvard Crimson reported.
HSDM permanently closed the Harvard Dental Center in Cambridge in October 2025. The school cited financial concerns in addition to previous fire damage as reasons for the closure.
Dean William Giannobile, DDS, and Thomas Miller, the school’s dean of administration and COO, wrote in a June 18 email to HSDM affiliates that the school reached a provisional agreement with an unnamed private practice to reopen the practice. Staff affected by the transition can apply to work at the practice as long as the new owners agree.
