Hundreds of nurses pour into Texas to help fight second COVID surge

In a Houston hotel room she shared with another traveling nurse her second night in town, Taylor Cummins thought about the months ahead of treating COVID-19 patients in one of the country’s hotspots for the virus.

The registered nurse left her job of more than three years at St. David’s Hospital in Austin to take on her first traveling nurse role and was assigned to Houston Methodist Hospital, where she will work through October.
