KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) – Uninsured children in Killeen received free dental care as Topaz Dental & Braces opened its doors for its annual Sharing Smiles Day.
Dr. Afiya Tamkeen volunteered her Sunday to help families who might otherwise go without treatment. The clinic provided services for children up to 18 who do not have Medicaid or other dental insurance.
“These kinds of opportunities are very important,” Tamkeen said. “They help us promote oral awareness, and it’s a way to give back to the community.”
The office offered dental exams and treated urgent problems, including tooth pain and cavities.
