Two Lubbock dentists have been nominated for Texas Academy of General Dentistry’s “of the year” awards, according to news releases.
The South Plains District Dental Society nominated Dr. Mary R. Glasheen for Texas New Dentist of the Year and Dr. Stephen A. Sperry for Texas Dentist of the Year.
Glasheen is one of 12 nominees for the new dentist award. She received her Doctor of Dental Science degree from University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston in 2016, planned Lubbock’s April 2022 Give Kids a Smile event, and serves as the Public Health and Outreach Chairperson of SPDDS, according to a release.
“The New Dentist of the Year award is perhaps the best way we can honor and recognize these young and enthusiastic dentists who hold the future of our profession in their hands,” said Dr. Brook Elmore, Texas AGD President.
Sperry is one of 16 nominees for the Dentist of the Year award. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Baylor College of Dentistry in 2011 and his MS in Dentistry with a specialty in orthodontics from St. Louis University. He also serves as a director on the Texas Dental Association board and as a delegate to the South Plains Dental Society, according to a release.
