Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen signed LB 148 into law, inducting the state into the Interstate Dentist and Dental Hygiene Licensure Compact.
The interstate compact improves license portability for dentists and dental hygienists, allowing dental professionals to practice in all participating states without obtaining a license for each individual state, according to an April 16 news release from the American Dental Association.
In addition to expanding licensure, the compact streamlines the licensing process and reduces costs for dentists and dental hygienists.
LB 148 passed April 10 with a unanimous 47-0 vote.
Nebraska is the 12th state to formally enact the compact, joining Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Ohio, Kansas, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin, the release said.

Have they decided, yet, what the fees will be?
Is the privilege to practice in all those states really what dentists want or need for themselves? Don’t they want maybe an additional 1 or 2 licenses for personal needs and wants? The model that addresses that is the other compact model (AADB), not this one.
IMO, it is the multi-state employers in Big Dentistry whose workforce issues are aided by the DDH Compact model…more so than it is for independent dentists.
