New CEO named to lead veteran healthcare in north Texas

he U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has announced the appointment of Jason Cave, J.D., as the new medical center director for VA North Texas Health Care System headquartered in Dallas.
“Mr. Cave’s leadership as the new medical center director for VA North Texas Health Care System ensures delivery of timely access to world-class healthcare for the veterans we are honored to serve,” said VA Heart of Texas Healthcare Network Director Wendell Jones, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.P., C.P.E. “His multi-faceted experience and strategic lens will be valuable assets for this healthcare system, the employees, and most importantly, our veteran clients.”

As the director of the second largest VA healthcare system in the nation, Cave is responsible for leading facilities in Dallas, Bonham, Fort Worth, Tyler, Plano, and five community-based outpatient clinics throughout its 40-county service area. With an annual operating budget of approximately $1.8 billion, 6,600 staff, and 1,500 volunteers, VA North Texas Health Care System provides care to almost 206,000 enrolled veterans.
