TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WPEC) — A care provider in Florida was arrested after allegedly committing Medicaid fraud, falsifying hundreds of hours worked totaling over $13,000, officials said.
The suspect, Caridad Abreu Gonzalez, provided personal-support services for disabled adults under the Medicaid program but falsely reported over 800 hours for services never provided, according to a news release from state Attorney General Ashley Moody’s office.
Gonzalez is charged with Medicaid-provider fraud and scheming to defraud, which are both third-degree felonies.
The investigation revealed she allegedly reported the fake hours to bill the higher individual reimbursement rate and to inflate the total hours worked, the release said.
