WASHINGTON, D.C. (WVVA) – Ahead of the State of the Union, Senator Tim Kaine highlighted the healthcare crisis facing Virginians, pointing to Medicaid cuts and expiring ACA tax credits as threats to vulnerable patients.
Kaine held a briefing with Dr. Cameron Roberts, a Harrisonburg dentist and board member of Augusta Regional Dental Clinic, which provides low- and no-cost care across the Shenandoah Valley.
Medicaid cuts enacted last year begin taking effect in 2026 and beyond. The expiration of enhanced ACA tax credits on January 1 has already caused health insurance premiums to spike for many Virginians.
The combination of these two things is a real double whammy that’s affecting Virginians.
