A 59-year-old registered nurse from Spokane accused of defrauding $5 million from Medicaid faces 68 criminal charges.
Paul B. Means, registered owner of Spokane’s South Hill-based company Abilia Healthcare, was formally charged Thursday with felonies including leading organized crime, robbery, use of proceeds from criminal profiteering, money laundering, false Medicaid statements and tampering with witnesses. Means is due to appear in court in Spokane on January 4, following a three-year investigation by the Washington Attorney General Office’s Medicaid Fraud Control Division.
A message left on a phone number used to register Abilia Healthcare with the state was not immediately returned Friday. Phone and email messages left Friday with an attorney representing Means in his civil case were also not returned.
