Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton took some heat Wednesday when a budget hearing before the Senate Finance Committee became a forum for skeptical questions about a legal settlement he endorsed, raises he approved and expensive outside lawyers he hired to sue Google.
And that question came from fellow Republicans.
Democrats on the committee lit into Paxton over his unsuccessful lawsuit to overturn President Joe Biden’s electoral victories in four states and his trip to Washington to address a Jan. 6 “Stop the Steal” rally that preceded the violent riot at the U.S. Capitol by loyalists of President Donald Trump.
