A Dallas Morning News reader recently asked Curious Texas what happened to Jacques Roy, a Rockwall doctor who was convicted in 2017 of masterminding a record $373 million home health fraud scheme against Medicare and Medicaid.
Roy used fake patients — including some of Dallas’ homeless — by promising them cash, food stamps and groceries. He was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison for multiple health care fraud counts.
But the reader noticed that Roy’s name and the address of his DeSoto office still appear on several health care ratings websites, leading him to wonder whether Roy was out of prison and again practicing medicine. One of the sites even says Roy is accepting new patients, but the phone number listed is out of service.
