Dr. Michael Goodwin of Amarillo pleaded guilty to one charge of health care fraud back in 2012 relating to the investigation into allegations of statewide Medicaid orthodontic billing fraud.
Goodwin is the only dentist out of that morass to so far be criminally prosecuted and receive a jail sentence. He is in the midst of serving a four-year term in Indiana.
Goodwin is now asking for his conviction and charges to be vacated because his lawyer at the time, Clark Holesinger, is now serving time for defrauding clients. Per a news report from Myhighplains.com, “documents from the Porter County, Indiana Prosecutor indicate Holesinger stole about $380,000 from Goodwin, though he wasn’t ever formally charged for it.”
Goodwin’s wife told the press that her husband is innocent and Holesinger did not present all the evidence.
A hearing is set for June 29th in Amarillo to review the situation.

A lot of fraud and alleged malpractice going on in this one case.
I would say I’m shocked but honestly nothing really surprises me anymore.
